Question by High Flyer: Troubled by people. Can anyone offer any insight?
I am only 16, but I am very mature for my age. Where girls and guys are interested in partying, smoking, drinking, pop culture, brand name clothing and such, I am interested in politics, the world, philosophy, psychology, and things related to that.
As a result, I am shunned and resented by the people who like the partying and everything, and these people generally make up most of the student body. Why are these people glorified for being who they are, while I am vilified for being who I am?
I enjoy drinking and partying to, but not like them. I don’t devote my life to partying, but I do like to go out sometimes. I have a few common interests with these people, but despite that, I am often deemed a loser.
Why can I not enjoy life the way other highschool kids do? Why am I so unhappy for being who I am? They laugh at me because I am different, well, I laugh at them because they are all the same. But why can I not be accepted for who I am?
